Design Notes

The 25TF tweeter has incredibly linear frequency response characteristics, high power handling capability while generating ultra low harmonic distortion artifacts.

The 25TF Dome utilizes REDCATT in-house unique titanium coating technology. Nitride is extremely hard ceramic material. We deposit the nitride from both sides of the titanium dome. The coated dome has dramatically improved flexural rigidity (aka stiffness), compared to the pure titanium dome. The coating has dramatic effect onto the distortion artifacts. The 3rd harmonic distortion stays bellow 0.05% in the working range. Extended high frequency response without major dome breakup modes and improved transient response are the other positive effects of REDCATT Titanium-Nitride Domes.
The 25TF has implemented FEM tuned rear resonant chamber. The chamber is improving the tweeter behavior at low frequencies and further lowering the harmonic distortion. All tweeter parts are bonded together using state of the art high temperature adhesives. Metal parts in the tweeter assembly are coated for extreme weatherization protection.
This tweeter can be used in all applications requiring high quality HF devices. Best mounting is on a flat baffle without any waveguide.

Technical Summary

The 25TFX8-065 is a 0.8-inch ferrite titanium dome tweeter rated at 10 W AES (20 W continuous) into a nominal 8-ohm load. Sensitivity is 91.5 dB (1 W/1 m), the highest in the 0.8-inch dome tweeter group, and is well matched to moderate-to-high-sensitivity 6-8-inch woofers in 2-way systems. With a free-air resonance of 1,200 Hz and a 20.3 mm voice coil, this driver provides a lower Fs than most titanium dome tweeters of equivalent size, offering greater margin between the resonance frequency and the crossover point. The titanium dome diaphragm contributes high stiffness and extended high-frequency response compared to silk designs.

The frequency response is usable from approximately 1,500 Hz, with a broad flat plateau of 89-92 dB maintained from approximately 1.5 kHz through 20 kHz and slightly rising above 15 kHz, a characteristic of the titanium dome material. The impedance peak at Fs (1,200 Hz) is clearly defined. The combination of low Fs and wide flat response makes this driver straightforward to cross over at frequencies from 2 to 3 kHz with standard passive network topologies.

The driver is rated for 10 W AES and is suited for compact PA 2-way systems and consumer-grade designs requiring high sensitivity. A crossover frequency of 1,800-2,500 Hz (12-18 dB/octave high-pass) is recommended to exploit the low Fs advantage. The 8-ohm nominal impedance is compatible with standard passive crossover networks. Good to use with 6-8-inch woofers such as 8FHMX4-091, 8FINDX8-030, or 81FINDX8-290 in 2-way systems where the tweeter's high sensitivity matches the woofer output without level padding.

The 25TFX8-065 is suited for column speaker arrays, compact 2-way PA tops, TV soundbars, tabletop studio monitors, and commercial installation systems where high sensitivity, low resonance frequency, and wide-band flat response are the primary high-frequency driver selection criteria.
