The 101NCD compact size compression driver is a very high performance, high frequency device ideal for compact professional loudspeaker systems. The driver neodymium based magnetic circuit provides precision control over Polyamide diaphragm assembly in very compact package. The unit delivers extended frequency response and high power handling throughout 1.0 inch exit throat. The diaphragm is carefully attached to a high temperature Nomex voice coil former that can withstand the long term power handling characteristic typically seen in professional audio applications. REDCATT uses state of the art adhesives in all assembly steps. Our voice coil to dome bonding is unique process, developed to greatly improve the power handling capabilities. REDCATT unique and precise adhesives dispensing, combined with our in-house developed dome treatments are further improving the long term reliability of this product.

The 101NCDX8-160 is a 1-inch neodymium compression driver rated at 20 W AES (40 W continuous) into a nominal 8-ohm load. Sensitivity is 108.5 dB (1 W/1 m). With a free-air resonance of 1,900 Hz and a 25 mm horn exit, this driver is dimensionally compatible with standard 1-inch horn and waveguide systems. The neodymium motor provides a significant weight reduction compared to ferrite compression drivers of equivalent sensitivity, making it the preferred choice for portable PA column systems and line array elements where cabinet weight is a critical design parameter. The polyimide diaphragm ensures reliable thermal performance at 20 W AES continuous power.

The frequency response is usable from approximately 1,500 Hz with horn loading, with a flat plateau of 106-110 dB maintained from approximately 2 kHz to 15 kHz. The neodymium motor and polyimide diaphragm combination delivers consistent sensitivity across the passband. The impedance peak at Fs (1,900 Hz) and the secondary horn cavity resonance define the usable operating range boundaries.

The driver is rated for 20 W AES and is suited for portable PA column systems and 2-way PA tops. A crossover frequency of 1,500-2,500 Hz (18-24 dB/octave high-pass) is recommended. The 25 mm exit is compatible with standard 1-inch family horns, and the driver is specifically noted as suited for compact line-array applications. Good to use with 8-12-inch neodymium professional woofers such as 81NPMX8-373A, 101NPMX8-119, 121NPMX8-079, or 10NPMX8-055 in lightweight 2-way PA top and column line-array designs.

The 101NCDX8-160 is suited for 2-way PA top cabinets, portable column PA systems, compact line-array elements, and commercial installation products where the neodymium motor's weight advantage is a design-critical benefit and 108.5 dB sensitivity is required.
