Technical Summary

The 252TNX4-563A is a 1-inch neodymium silk dome tweeter rated at 10 W AES (20 W continuous) into a nominal 4-ohm load. Sensitivity is 93 dB (1 W/1 m), the highest of any dome tweeter in the REDCATT range, enabling high-efficiency 2-way system designs with minimal level padding. With a free-air resonance of 850 Hz - the lowest in the dome tweeter family - this driver provides exceptional margin between Fs and the crossover frequency, enabling crossover points as low as 1.5 kHz and simplifying passive network design. A Helmholtz resonant chamber integrated into the driver body suppresses the impedance peak at Fs and extends the usable low-frequency boundary of the driver.

The frequency response is usable from approximately 1,200 Hz, with a very flat plateau of 91-94 dB maintained from approximately 1.5 kHz to 20 kHz. The Helmholtz chamber damping produces an unusually smooth impedance curve with a reduced resonance peak, which simplifies first- and second-order passive crossover design. The silk dome provides smooth, neutral high-frequency character well suited to hi-fi and studio monitoring applications.

The driver is rated for 10 W AES and is suited for high-efficiency 2-way hi-fi, prosumer studio monitor, and compact PA designs. A crossover frequency of 1,500-2,500 kHz (12-18 dB/octave high-pass) is recommended, taking advantage of the very low Fs to cross lower than equivalent 1-inch designs. The 4-ohm nominal impedance requires crossover components and amplifier channels rated for low-impedance loads. Good to use with 6.5-10-inch woofers such as 61FHMX4-430C, 8FHMX4-091, 8FHWX4-382, or 10FHWX4-117 in 2-way hi-fi, studio monitor, or compact PA systems.

The 252TNX4-563A is suited for hi-fi bookshelf loudspeakers, prosumer studio monitors, 2-way compact PA systems, and column speaker arrays where maximum sensitivity, very low resonance frequency, and the smooth character of a silk dome diaphragm are the primary design objectives.
