The 180NCD is a high performance high frequency device ideal for professional loudspeaker systems. In a ultra compact size, the driver’s neodymium based magnetic circuit provides a robust, high force BL field providing precision control of the Polyimide diaphragm assembly. The unit delivers extended frequency response and high power handling through 1.0 inch exit throat. The suspension has designed and FEM optimized venting features to lover the harmonic distortion. The venting holes also improves the control over the dome movements at low frequencies. REDCATT has developed unique phase plug. Phase plug is FEM optimized to lower the distortion artifacts at mid frequencies.
180NCD ultra compact design ensures the driver can be used in enclosure designs where the space is very limited, such as line array systems.

This effort has resulted in a device that offers uncompromising performance featuring high efficiency, exceptional transient response and controlled distortion characteristics, all that in extremely compact size.

The 180NCDX16-086B is a 1.8-inch neodymium compression driver rated at 40 W AES (80 W continuous) into a nominal 16-ohm load. Sensitivity is 109.5 dB (1 W/1 m). With a free-air resonance of 1,100 Hz, a 45.7 mm voice coil, and a 26 mm horn exit, this driver provides the 1.8-inch format's extended low-frequency capability and high power handling in a compact neodymium design. The 16-ohm impedance is advantageous in multi-driver wiring configurations - four drivers wired in series-parallel produce a 16-ohm load from the array, enabling high-SPL line array designs with standard 4-ohm-rated amplifiers.

The frequency response is usable from approximately 800 Hz with horn loading, with a flat plateau of 108-111 dB maintained from approximately 1.2 kHz to 16 kHz. The very high sensitivity (109.5 dB), low Fs (1,100 Hz), and compact neodymium assembly make this driver suitable for both high-efficiency PA systems and weight-critical touring applications. The neodymium motor provides a significant weight reduction compared to ferrite 1.8-inch drivers of equivalent sensitivity.

The driver is rated for 40 W AES into 16 ohms. A crossover frequency of 1,000-1,800 Hz (18-24 dB/octave high-pass) is recommended. The 26 mm exit is compatible with standard 1-inch and 1.4-inch family horns via adapters. Good to use with 15-inch or 18-inch neodymium professional woofers such as 15NPWX8-016, 181NPWX4-099, or 18NPWX8-017 in lightweight 2-way PA top or line-array element designs.

The 180NCDX16-086B is suited for 2-way PA top cabinets, portable column PA systems, compact line-array elements, and commercial installation products where the 1.8-inch format's power handling and extended operating range are required alongside the neodymium motor's weight advantage and the 16-ohm impedance's wiring flexibility.
