The 140FCD is a very high performance device ideal for professional loudspeaker systems. The unit delivers extended frequency response and high power handling through 1.0inch exit throat. REDCATT has developed unique motor system magnetic gap volume tuning. This feature dramatically improves THD and improves the transient response of the driver.
The driver features a 36mm Polyimide diaphragm formed as single piece with Polyimide suspension. The suspension has designed and FEM optimized venting features to lover the harmonic distortion.
The dome is carefully attached to a high temperature Nomex voice coil former that withstands the long term power characteristics typically seen in professional applications. The acoustic output exits through a radial phase plug and a 1.0 inch throat aperture. Nominal sensitivity is 110.5 dB 1watt / 1 meter.
Our voice coil to dome bonding is unique process, developed to greatly improve the power handling capabilities. REDCATT precise adhesives dispensing, combined with our in-house developed dome treatments are further improving the long term reliability of this product.

The 140FCDX8-087 is a 1.4-inch ferrite compression driver rated at 30 W AES (60 W continuous) into a nominal 8-ohm load. Sensitivity is 106 dB (1 W/1 m). With a free-air resonance of 1,200 Hz and a 26 mm horn exit, this driver provides a lower operating frequency than 1-inch formats and is suited to horn designs capable of loading to 1,200-1,500 Hz. The ferrite motor and polymer diaphragm provide a cost-effective, robust assembly for budget-conscious 2-way PA designs requiring the larger voice coil diameter (35.6 mm) and increased power handling of the 1.4-inch format.

The frequency response is usable from approximately 1,000 Hz with horn loading, with a flat plateau of 104-108 dB maintained from approximately 1.5 kHz to 15 kHz. The smooth passband response is consistent across standard 1-inch family horns adapted with a 1.4-to-1-inch adapter, or with native 1.4-inch format horns. The impedance peak at Fs (1,200 Hz) defines the lower usable frequency limit.

The driver is rated for 30 W AES and is suited for 2-way PA top cabinets where the 1.4-inch format's higher power handling and lower Fs provide system-level advantages over 1-inch drivers. A crossover frequency of 1,200-2,000 Hz (18-24 dB/octave high-pass) is recommended. Good to use with 10-15-inch professional woofers such as 10FINDX8-033, 10NPMX8-055, 12NPMX8-054, 121NPMX8-079, or 15FPMX8-063 in 2-way PA top and portable speaker designs at budget-conscious price points.

The 140FCDX8-087 is suited for 2-way PA top cabinets, portable column PA systems, and commercial installation products where a 1.4-inch ferrite compression driver with 106 dB sensitivity, 30 W AES power handling, and a 26 mm horn exit is required at an accessible cost point.
