15NPW

The 15NPW is a high efficiency, (97 dB 1watt / 1 meter) 15-inch woofer with linear frequency response characteristics, high power handling capability while generating low harmonic distortion artifacts. The 15NPW uses a lightweight carbon fiber loaded cone assembly along with a high excursion triple roll constant geometry surround. This combination provides remarkable strength, high efficiency and a peak to peak maximum excursion of 15mm. Woofer features REDCATT double silicone sealed spider.

Power Handling
At the core of the 15NPW is it’s voice coil technology featuring a composite Polyimide former material capable of withstanding peak temperatures in excess of 350degC, well beyond the thermal requirements of modern professional audio systems.
The 15NPW cone and dust cap are made using an advanced carbon fiber loaded REDCATT pulp. The woofer cone is also extensively treated to withstand harsh environments and high humidity. Metal parts in the speaker assembly are coated for extreme weatherization protection.

The 15NPWX8-016 is a 15-inch professional woofer designed for the highest-demand touring PA, installed sound, and cinema applications requiring maximum acoustic output, thermal durability, and motor linearity from a single 15-inch driver. With a sensitivity of 97.34 dB (1 W/1 m) and an AES power handling of 1200 W at 8 ohms, the driver delivers a calculated maximum SPL of approximately 128 dB at 1 metre - among the highest figures available in the professional 15-inch woofer category. The motor system uses a 4-inch copper voice coil wound on a Polyimide former rated to withstand peak temperatures in excess of 350 degC, providing sustained operation at continuous programme levels without thermal compression or former failure under the most demanding long-term drive conditions. The Neodymium magnet structure produces a Bl of 28.3 T.m at a Qts of 0.27, placing the 15NPW in the strong-motor professional woofer class where vented (bass reflex) enclosures are the only appropriate alignment. The carbon fiber loaded REDCATT paper cone assembly is treated against humidity and environmental exposure; the double silicone sealed Nomex spider provides moisture ingress protection for permanent installation and touring use.

The 15NPWX8-016 requires professional high-power amplification of 1200-2400 W into 8 ohms, with DSP control mandatory for all alignments. A 24 dB/octave high-pass filter set at 50, 42, or 36 Hz depending on the alignment is required; the vented enclosure unloads the cone below Fb, and with Xprot=14.6 mm, displacement limiting must be active at full amplifier power to prevent progressive mechanical overload below the tuning frequency at high programme levels. The recommended operating bandwidth is approximately 40 Hz to 1.5 kHz, with a 24 dB/octave low-pass crossover to a compression driver or high-frequency section at 1.0-1.5 kHz appropriate for standard two-way system integration.

The 15NPWX8-016 is suited for: two-way touring PA enclosures requiring maximum SPL from a single 15-inch driver; flyable and fixed-install main speakers for theatres, stadia, arenas, houses of worship, and outdoor festivals; cinema main LF speaker assemblies where thermal durability and programme-consistent output across extended programme durations are required; high-SPL column array woofer sections; and reference two-way installed PA systems for venues where a single 15-inch cabinet must deliver full-bandwidth coverage at continuous programme levels without supplementary sub-bass reinforcement. Its combination of 97.34 dB sensitivity, 1200 W AES power handling, Neodymium motor with 350 degC-rated Polyimide former, and carbon fiber loaded cone positions the 15NPW as the highest-output 15-inch driver in the REDCATT NPW platform for mid-to-large-scale professional audio applications.
