200FCD

The 200FCD compression driver is a very high performance high frequency device ideal for large professional loudspeaker systems. The driver uses all components that were designed and manufacture with one objective in mind - be the best. The driver’s phase plug is CNC machined from solid aluminum with unbeaten level of precision. The dome is carefully attached to the voice coil with our sandwich joint, improving the transfer of the high frequencies and further improving power handling and reliability of the driver.
Diaphragm Assembly
The driver features a 75mm pure titanium diaphragm. Suspension is formed from Polyimide material.
The acoustic output exits through an aluminum, radial 3 slot phase plug and a 2.0 inch throat aperture. Nominal sensitivity is 108.5 dB 1watt / 1 meter.

The 200FCDX8-049 is a 3-inch ferrite compression driver rated at 110 W AES (220 W continuous) into a nominal 8-ohm load, the highest power rating in the REDCATT compression driver family. Sensitivity is 108.5 dB (1 W/1 m). With an exceptionally low free-air resonance of 500 Hz, a 76 mm (3-inch) voice coil, and a 48 mm horn exit, this driver provides the widest operating bandwidth and highest excursion capability of any compression driver in the range. The titanium dome diaphragm combined with the ferrite motor and copper cap demodulation ring delivers extended high-frequency response with reduced inductance-modulation distortion, enabling use across the full range from 500 Hz to beyond 15 kHz with appropriate horn loading.

The frequency response is usable from approximately 500 Hz with horn loading, with an extremely flat plateau of 107-110 dB maintained from approximately 600 Hz to 15 kHz - the widest and flattest passband in the REDCATT compression driver family. Multiple impedance peaks at Fs (500 Hz) and horn cavity resonances above 1 kHz are clearly defined. The extended low-frequency capability enables this driver to serve as the sole mid-high driver in a 2-way system with a 15-inch or 18-inch woofer crossed over at 500-800 Hz.

The driver is rated for 110 W AES and requires high-power amplification. A crossover frequency of 500-1,000 Hz (18-24 dB/octave high-pass) is recommended, taking advantage of the very low Fs to cover a very wide bandwidth. A constant-directivity exponential or oblate spheroidal horn with a 48 mm throat is required. Good to use with 15-inch or 18-inch professional woofers such as 15FINDX8-035, 18FINDX8-036, 181XRX4-350, or 21NPWX4-018 in large-format 2-way or 3-way touring PA, concert line-array, and high-SPL system designs.

The 200FCDX8-049 is suited for professional touring PA 2-way and 3-way large-format top cabinets, concert line-array systems, and high-SPL fixed-installation systems where the widest-bandwidth compression driver, 110 W AES power handling, and titanium dome's extended HF ceiling are required for long-throw horn applications.
