The 18FIND is a high efficiency, (97 dB 1watt / 1 meter) 18-inch woofer with incredibly linear frequency response characteristics, high power handling capability while generating low harmonic distortion artifacts. The 18FIND uses a lightweight glass fiber loaded cone assembly along with a high excursion triple roll constant geometry surround. This combination provides remarkable strength, high efficiency and a peak to peak maximum excursion of 30mm.

Power Handling
At the core of the 18FIND is it’s voice coil technology featuring a composite Polyimide former material capable of withstanding peak temperatures in excess of 250C, well beyond the thermal requirements of modern professional audio systems.

REDCATT has implemented a silicone spider design to ensure long term shape memory, consistency and diminish anomalies associated with spider deterioration.

The 18FINDX8-310B is an 18-inch professional ferrite woofer designed for high-SPL touring PA, installed sound reinforcement, and cinema LF applications where low harmonic distortion at large cone excursion, deep bass extension, and broad two-way system compatibility are the primary design requirements. The driver uses a 101.6 mm copper voice coil wound on a Polyimide former rated to 250 degC, delivering 1000 W AES and 2000 W continuous at 8 ohms. The motor system is designed around a wide magnetic field geometry - the -310B's defining engineering characteristic - in which the magnetic gap is dimensioned to maintain a more uniform Bl product across the full Xmax travel of 5.85 mm. This wide-field approach produces measurably lower BL(x) nonlinearity at large excursion compared to shorter-gap designs of similar peak Bl, resulting in reduced second and third harmonic distortion at sustained programme levels. The resulting Bl of 21.3 T.m at Qts=0.46 represents a deliberate optimization toward linearity rather than maximum motor force. The voice coil inductance of Le=1.40 mH is the lowest in the 18FIND product family, with an inductive rolloff onset at approximately 580 Hz - the best native HF bandwidth of the three variants - making the -310B directly compatible with standard two-way crossover designs at 800 Hz to 1.5 kHz without Le compensation or modified crossover topology. The silicone-impregnated Nomex spider ensures long-term Fs consistency, and the optimized aluminum basket venting reduces thermal resistance for sustained high-power operation.

The 18FINDX8-310B requires professional high-power amplification of 1000-2000 W into 8 ohms with DSP signal management mandatory for all alignments. A 24 dB/octave high-pass filter at 40, 33, or 26 Hz depending on alignment is required to prevent excursion overshoot below the vented tuning frequency; displacement-limiting DSP is recommended for all sustained full-programme operation. The operating bandwidth is approximately 34 Hz to 1.5 kHz; a 24 dB/octave low-pass crossover to a compression driver at 800 Hz-1.5 kHz is appropriate for standard two-way integration, with no additional Le compensation needed.

The 18FINDX8-310B is suited for: two-way touring PA enclosures in standard and large formats where reduced harmonic distortion at high programme levels is valued alongside high SPL capability; installed main LF speakers for theatres, cinema, houses of worship, stadia, and large outdoor venues requiring extended bass reproduction with low distortion at sustained power; high-fidelity and critical listening PA systems where the -310B's wide-field BL(x) linearity produces a perceptibly cleaner bass character compared to shorter-gap designs; and festival and outdoor event main bass cabinets in standard and extended LF configurations. Within the REDCATT 18-inch ferrite woofer family, the -310B is the appropriate selection when low distortion at Xmax, deep bass extension to 34 Hz, and unconstrained two-way system integration are the primary performance priorities, with the -036 preferred for higher sensitivity and smaller enclosure requirements, and the 182FIND for maximum motor force in 3-way topologies.
